Saturday, December 19, 2009 - With a snow filled Nor'Easter just getting into the area, the 27 crews were hard at work early. At 0530hrs, Engine 27 was dispatched as part of the box assignment to Eastgate Lane in Willingboro. Engine 27 (Iannacone) with 5 arrived as the second due engine and was assigned to handle ventilation duties. Company was clear in about 30 minutes.
While Squad 27 was running numerous vehicle accident calls, at 1123hrs Engine 27 was dispatched to the 200 block of Garden Street in Mount Holly for the house fire. Engine 27 (J. Desjardins) w/4 arrived and staged while Engine 5011 was investigating smoke in the residence. The Engine was released within 10 minutes.
At 1431hrs, Engine 27 was again dispatched for the box on Edgely Lane in Garfield East for the House Fire. Engine 27 (Kramer) with 6 arrived just behind Rescue-Engine 1613 to find a house with fire through the roof. Engine 27 laid out to the hydrant and supplied the scene. Crews from 16 and 27 worked 3 handlines and did some extensive opening up and had the bulk of the fire knocked down in 6 minutes. Command held RE161, E27, and E906 for 2 more hours to overhaul and assist the investigators.
With 24" of Snow and 16 runs, the members of 27 maintained crews for both Engines and both Ambulances throughout the duration of the storm.
