WTES WINS NFPA'S FIRE SERVICE VIDEO CONTEST

Monday, June 11, 2012 9:00PM  For the past couple of weeks members, family, and friends have been voting for a video. The video was submitted by WTES members for the NFPA's Fire Service Video Contest. The National FIre Protection Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the National Volunteer Fire Council picked the top two videos that followed criteria located in the IAFC's Rules of Engagement for Firefighter Survival and Incident Commanders and NVFC's Rules of Engagement for Firefighter Health.

Over the past few weeks these two videos were voted on by everyone, which was publicized through the NFPA's media outlets as well as our members. Two of our members FF Parker and Public Education Officer Shaw had the opportunity to fly out to the NFPA's Fire and Life Safety Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here we got to meet representatives from the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue who won the safety side of the contest.

Last night the votes were in and the NFPA officials announced that the WTES won the award for NFPA's Fire Service Video Contest for Rules of Engagement! The WTES won a new Apple iPad for training and public education, an iTunes gift card for $250 for apps, NFPA publications, and a press conference at our station!

We thank the NFPA for opportunities like these, to get the message of firefighter health and safety to everyone.
